Inbred Strains

Name Available As Description Generation
Nigerian Mating Pair These are inbred Nigerian X. tropicalis kindly provided to the Harland lab by Rob Grainger, then bred in the lab. We have identified background mutations in these animals - grinch and curly. However, we have identified a set of animals without these background mutations which are available for distribution
Nigerian "Superman" Males These are inbred animals derived from a Nigerian male who showed very early nuptial pads and had very good fertilization rates. We have inbred a line arising from "Superman", and selected for early nuptial pads/maturation/good fert rates.
Nigerian "Lois" Females These females are also derived from the Superman Nigerian male. They are very large robust females who give large numbers of high quality eggs.
Ivory Coast B (ICB) "blue" or "Axanthic" Froglets ICB strain frogs appear to be richly polymorphic compared to Nigerian. In addition, they have a pigmentation defect, making them easy to distinguish. F8
Population A Froglets These animals were originally obtained from Rob Grainger and then brought to the Harland lab via David Wright.

Tyrosinase froglets These frogs derive from tryosinase KO embryos created using CRISPR.
Tyrosinase/Axanthic froglets These frogs came from tryosinase KO embryos created using CRISPR. Subsequent generations were crossed with the Ivory coast "B" Axanthic line (see above) which have a severe reduction in xanthophores. Also have some which were Tyr inn into Axa?

Triple froglets
Flk-T2D froglets This line has tissue specific Flk expression(GFP in heart and vasculature). We have lines created using both Tol1 and Tol2 technology.
n-Tub-T2D froglets This line has tissue specific n-tubulin expression(GFP in neural tissue), created using Tol2 technology.
Brainbow1.0H-RFP froglets These animals express ubiquitous RFP initially, but can be manipulated using Flp recombinase to allow expression of other fluorophores in subsets of tissues. pMLC1V-RFP froglets These animals express tissue specific myosin light chain RFP(heart, facial muscle). They were created using Tol 1 technology.
Piggy-Bac froglets These animals express very intense ubiquitous RFP. They arise from embryos injected using Piggy-Bac technology, and likely contain a number of transposon concatemers.
